οὐκ εἰς μακεʼν δὲ ἄρα αὐτῷ ἐπληροῦτο τὰ τῆς ἐπαγγε- λίας. μετὰ γοῦν τὴν ἐκ νεκρῶν ἀνάστασιν καὶ τὴν εἰς οὐρανοὺς ἄνοδον Θωμᾶς, τῶν ἀποστόλων εἶς τῶν δώδεκα, Θαδδαῖον, ἐν ἀριθμῷ καὶ αὐτὸν τῶν ἑβδο- μήκοντα τοῦ Χριστοῦ μαθητῶν κατειλεγμένον, κινήσει θειοτέρᾳ ἐπὶ τὴν Ἒδεσσαν κήρυκα καὶ εὐαγγελιστὴν τῆς περὶ τοῦ Χριστοῦ διδασκαλίας ἐκπέμπει, πάντα τε διʼ αὐτοῦ τὰ τῆς τοῦ σωτῆρος ἡμῶν τέλος ἐλάμβανεν ἐπαγγελίας.

And not long afterwards the promise was fulfilled for him. After the resurrection from the dead and the ascent into heaven, Thomas, one of the twelve apostles, moved by divine impulse, sent Thaddaeus, who was himself numbered among the seventy disciples of Christ, to Edessa as herald and evangelist of the teaching about Christ, and through him all the terms of our Saviour's promise were fulfilled.
