πῶς δὲ καὶ αἱ κολαζόμεναι ψυχαὶ συναισθάνονται μὴ σώματα οὖσαι; »φοβήθητε« γοῦν λέγει »τὸν μετὰ θάνατον δυνάμενον καὶ ψυχὴν καὶ σῶμα εἰς γέενναν βαλεῖν.« τὸ γὰρ φαινόμενον οὐ πυρὶ καθαίρεται, ἀλλʼ εἰς γῆν ἀναλύεται.

And how do souls being punished feel it, if they are not bodies? At any rate he says, “Fear him who after death is able to cast both soul and body into Gehenna.” For what is visible is not purified by fire but dissolves into earth.
