Proclus of Constantinople

Πρόκλος · Proclus Constantinopolitanus

Proclus was a pupil of John Chrysostom, secretary to Atticus, bishop of Cyzicus, and from 434 until his death in 446 bishop of Constantinople. He is remembered for his preaching on Mary as Theotokos and for his Tome to the Armenians, a statement of faith against Theodore of Mopsuestia's teaching that became a standard in the controversies after Ephesus.
