Paulinus of Nola

Pontius Meropius Paulinus Nolanus

Paulinus was born at Bordeaux of a senatorial family, served as a Roman governor, and was baptized about 389. With his wife Therasia he gave away his wealth, was ordained at Barcelona in 394, and about 395 settled at Nola beside the tomb of Saint Felix, where he was bishop from about 409 until his death. His letters and poems, including yearly birthday poems for Felix, survive.
