Pacian of Barcelona

Pacianus Barcinonensis

Pacian was bishop of Barcelona in the later fourth century and the father of Dexter, to whom Jerome dedicated De viris illustribus. His surviving writings are three letters to a Novatianist, Sympronianus, defending the name and the penitential discipline of the Catholic church, an exhortation to penitence, and a sermon on baptism.
