Marius Victorinus

Gaius Marius Victorinus Afer

Victorinus was an African-born Roman rhetorician who became a Christian late in life and wrote the first sustained Latin defence of the Nicene homoousion, using Neoplatonic categories. His Against Arius answers the Arian Candidus; he also wrote the first Latin commentaries on Paul's letters that survive in part, and Trinitarian hymns.
