A lay writer, probably a native of North Africa, who lived in Rome and Constantinople in the 420s-440s. A friend of Augustine, he wrote against the Pelagians and against Nestorius, and translated into Latin works of Theodore of Mopsuestia and Nestorius, many of which survive only in his versions.
