Ambrose

Ambrosius Mediolanensis

Ambrose was bishop of Milan from 374 until his death. He wrote on Scripture (largely in the manner of Philo and Origen), on the duties and virtues of Christians and clergy, on baptism and the Eucharist, and against the Arians, and he composed hymns for use in worship. His sermons moved Augustine, who was baptized by him in 387.
