Τοὺς δὲ ἀπεσταλμένους ἀφʼ ἡμῶν Κλαύδιον Ἔφηβον καὶ Οὐαλέριον Βίτωνα σὺν καὶ Φορτουνάτῳ ἐν εἰρήνῃ μετὰ χαρᾶς ἐν τάχει ἀναπέμψατε πρὸς ἡμᾶς, ὅπως θᾶττον τὴν εὐκταίαν καὶ ἐπιποθήτην ἡμῖν εἰρήνην καὶ ὁμόνοιαν ἀπαγγέλλωσιν, εἰς τὸ τάχιον καὶ ἡμᾶς χαρῆναι περὶ τῆς εὐσταθείας ὑμῶν.

## English translation (Claude)

Send back to us quickly, in peace and with joy, our envoys Claudius Ephebus and Valerius Bito, together with Fortunatus, so that they may report the sooner the peace and concord we pray and long for, so that we too may the more quickly rejoice over your good order.

## Translation notes

- The names Claudius and Valerius suggest freedmen of the imperial household. Fortunatus may be the Corinthian named in 1 Cor 16:17.
